Q: About Interchangability of Type R parts into B17a motor? Experienced Advisors , please help!
Hey Guys I got a few simple easy questions.
1. I would like to Utilize The Type R Oil PUMP , Oil cooler, Water pump, head gasket > For My B17a (92-93 GSr) Block (I know that its the same as b16a block except the difference in crank and rods) Are these parts "bolt on " interchangeable???
2. Will Itr Fuel pump go right into EG6 92-95 civic easily? Or will GSR 94-95 pump work? fine?
3. Finally about boring a b17a .25mm over stock and running CTR pistons. Will this mod increase displacement to that of a 1.8L gsr/Itr?

opt for a prepped ITR oil pump as they are modified
to handle the stresses of a built motor.
$200
the water pump will not cool more than the stock GSR
one. if you have too much heat, run a mugen cap
and drill a hole in your thermostat ring and keep
testing it until the heat is curtailed.
$13 and time on a drill
the headgasket: lose the ITR idea, run a mugen or
your stock gasket with the inner layer removed.
this gasket is like .55mm and the mugen is .47mm
you will also want to give this gasket to the machine
shop to bore to the 81.25 size of your piston if you
are getting the block sleeves prepped for the piston
install. no, you cannot just drop them in, you must
remove the block to raise your bore diameter.
$50 bucks vs $130 bucks you choose, the only diff
is the rivets and once the damn thing is sprayed with
copper gasket spray and bolted in, it wont move.
http://www.c-speedracing.com look at the B20 buildup in "how to" and
look at the gasket... the inner silver layer is removed!
as far as the CTR pistons, it will only change the CC of the piston
dome, not your overall displacement. a domed piston will make
more compression causing more HP/TQ... here is a test you can
use to calculate your compression and displacement:
http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/c.../compcalc.html
.25 over will make a bit more... but not much. the 81mm to 81.25 is
like NIL. considering your bore/stroke.
you need to research your deck height. the PR4 piston might be too
high for your stroke/rod length combination.
as far as the fuel pump goes, unless you go with larger injectors and
have calculated your needs from that angle, you may not need it.
spend your money once... find out your HP goal and do your fuel
system when you know there is a bottle-neck in the system. also,
without full engine management and the knowledge to tune its useless
anyway... you need to get this thing right the first time. do some
homework!
good point... actually... I always found the central verse of the bible to
be John 3:16 ... for those of you paying attention, it could be a good
time to decide what you think about it
its over-quoted for a reason!
Christianity w/o a Resurrected Christ is a bunch of rules for what...?
NOTHING!

- ITR oil pump will work on a B17A block in an EG, no problem.
- ITR water pump will also work on the B17A, but it's no different than the B17A water pump, fyi.
- ITR oil cooler..i can't remember if the US ITR engine has one of these, but if it does...it's no better than a B17A's factory oil cooler.
- ITR headgasket is just a B16A headgasket, no different than a B17A's headgasket either.
all of these parts are intercheageable.
The ITR fuel pump will bolt onto an EG gastank, but the connectors are a little different. If you use a GSR fuel pump, you wont have the connector issues...its a plug n' play fuel pump for the EG chassis.
boring your B17A block to oversized CTR pistons will not make it 1.8L. Like MikeSarr says, its close to nil on making a noticeable change in displacement, although you will make more power due to the added compression the CTR pistons give you. You'll be at about 11.4cr w/CTR pistons + B17A block & PR3 head.
good setup....
I use to run this engine setup before my car got stolen.
I suggest ITR cams and intake manifold as a next upgrade.
