Default Tranny slips is this difficult to fix?

We want to buy a 97 Civic EX with an auto tranny for my wife, but the owner says that the automatic transmission slips.

Is this difficult to fix? Do I need to just rebuild the tranny or replaced it with new one?

Also, does anyone has experience with Lucas Auto Transmission slip fix fluid? I've read somewhere that it works good.

that's what I did. Found a 95k tranny for 175.00 and it took 5 hours to replace it. I had my friend help me, a lift, tranny jack and we took our time. It is definitely a whole afternoon type of thing.

Either rebuild it, buy a rebuilt one or find a used one for cheap. Only problem if it's used is that you won't know the condition of the tranny.

With a slipping trans and the wing you can guess what kind of person was driving it...its more then likely the car has been beat on.

I would demand an air cleaner assembly if I was to buy it.
