Default Can a 92-95 EG ignition switch work on a 96-98 civic?

I need to replace my ignition switch on my 97 civic and was wondering if the ignition switch/bracket from a 92-95 civic work? I plan on swapping tumblers so I can keep my original key. Does it really matter if the switch was from an auto or manual? Thanks in advance.

Yes it does work!! Just went to pull-a-part. All they had were 96-2000. Grabed one from 98 hatch for $10. BUT here is the kicker, the pins on the smaller plug need to be swapped around. If you have old harness just put the pins in order of the 92-95 plug. The switch has 2 plugs. The smaller one. I think the middle yellow wire needs to be put on opposite side middle. And the black wire needs to go oppsite side of where the white one is. And the white one needs to go opposite side of where the black one was. Good luck if i remembered correctly.

Yup it works. Gota mess with the pins tho. I got a 98 hatch ignition and put in my 92 civic. It didnt start. I noticed the smaller plug wires were in different pin locations. Just gota move the pins to proper slot. Look at old switch to determine what pins go where. They need to be moved to opposite locations to start car. Same process going from eg to ek. Use ur 92 ignitoin and swap pins to same locations as the 98 civic. Using old switch for reference only.

You quoted a 11 year old post and replied as if speaking to them. Other poster is accurate in pointing out the impression given as well as informing you some of the expectations of this forum. Bumping decade old threads is not usually received well.

I left your original post only because it did add information to the thread. Thread is closed as complete.
