Default GSR rebuild..

My DA has reached over 200k, ive always wanted to swap it out and go "Type R", but i can only afford a GSR.

i am planning on rebuilding the B18c1. and would like to get some ideas on certain parts

Skunk 2 cams vs ITR Cams.

sk2 manifolds vs ITR manifolds.

Eagel pistons vs ITR pistons. (81mm, same size. dont really kno if it makes a difference)

Best CARB legal CAI, and Headers

obd1 vs obd2.

Also let me kno if u guys are selling the parts as well, and ur experience/opinions with them.

This is gonna be my first swap. so let me kno if i need to kno anything else. thx

ps: dont PM me. my block up poper wont allow it. Ricextacy@yahoo.com

If you're not going to boost, OEM pistons would work fine if you can get the compression ratio you desire. Also, Eagle (not Eagel) doesn't make pistons.

Since your engine has a lot of miles on it, DO NOT plan to run 81mm stock bore. Overboring to 81.5mm is a must if you want this rebuild to even be mildly successful. As for the rest of the parts, check the All Motor forum to find what combinations work the best while still meeting the CA CARB requirements.

ITR cams will be just fine in a gsr.

OEM pistons will work well too but I would suggest p30 pistons in a b18c1 because of the bump in comp.

Best intake money can buy is the mugen imo. But an intake is an intake.

Headers, if its in your budget I would get the rage/hytech replica header, thats right, replica. Best bang for your money.

And last, you cannot use an ITR intake manifold on a p72 head. But the skunk2 will work just fine because its the same. Or you can go cheaper and get a blox which is the same again.

yes, ITR cams. budget bang for the buck. going with other aftermarket stage 2 cams may require you to go with upgraded valvetrain, especially if you want to play with higher rev limits.

yes, p30 pistons or jdm p73 pistons while you're at it. OEM or RS Machines

intake. bpi velocity stack with RF-148 K&N filter on the stock arm for the budget bang for the buck.

header. hytech replica or jdm 4-1 for budget bang for the buck. replicas have been kickin' *** lately on dyno charts.

intake manifold. yes, skunk2 or blox if you're sticking with the p72 head. consider a larger throttle body.

obd1 if you plan on tuning which i'd suggest for sure.

i just did a rebuild on my near 200k motor using standard size pistons and i was fine. it all depends on how the motor was run before... was it babied? beat on? however, it's not bad to go overbore by .25 or .5 GL
