H-T Road Race and Autocross members…
I’m pleased to announce that James Ornelas formerly of GEAR-SPEED has joined our team to handle Sales and Marketing of our GEAR-X Precision Transmission parts and our ever increasing Special Projects Motor Sports line of Performance Racing Parts.
James’s former H-T Screen Name Gearspeed EF7 is now “Special Projects MS”
Drop James an IM or start a thread here and he will be available to answer most of your transmission questions whether it be confusion over JDM vs US Spec ratios or interchangeability. We are also offering a New Race Transmission service to So Cal racers, where our Trans expert Jason can give your Racing Gearbox just that pre season check over, fit the new Final Drive, fit a set of genuine Carbon Synchros or perform a complete rebuild. You will be surprised at the fast service and reasonable fees.
For the Auto Crossers we have all the trick close ratio gears and final drive ratios available as well as our Exclusive GEAR-X 3.08 1st Gear for the D Series Honda’s. Special Discounts for H-T Members.
James will be seen at most track days either looking after our Team Cars or those we are supporting for 2008. Look for the Big Black Transporter.

A pretty cool guy too, I remember talking to him for a while back when they had the IAS SEMA show in SoCal every year.

Steph did my head work in my H23a back in '96 when he worked at JG Engine Dynamics. How time flies!!!
Does he still have his (Drag or Drift) ride with AEM?

I also can't say enough good things about KIWI and Special Projects Motorsports. He helped me quite a bit when I was trying to figure out my transmission. I would recommend him to any racer out there.
So, looks like you have the West and East coasts covered. How about the Midwest?

I would personally like to thank Kiwi for this tremendous opportunity to come on board with Special Projects MotorSports!! Guys...Feel free to ask me any transmission questions you may have. If I don't have an answer...I will surely find out for you!!
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Okay... here we go. First Question.
I am building a 2008 accord coupe... 3.5L v6 maunal tranny. I know the engine has been around for awhile in TL and RL. the TL type S with the 3.5L v6 has a LSD diff, can I drop that into my new 08 manual transmission?
Thanks for any answer, including(your out of your mind)
Peace

Congrats on the new job. Ive got a weird question. currently im rebuilding my car and have my trans out. so i figured I should fix this weird problem i was having when the car was a d/d. when shifting into 3rd gear I have to aim the shifter more towards 5th then you would normally. If you shift it like normal it wont go into gear. I had a freind of mine take a look at it and he wasnt sure what it was so i figure i should ask someone who knows a little more. The trans is a jdm gsr trans and everything else is fine on it but im building the car to do hpde and eventually time trials and would like to not miss shift becuase of this problem on the track.
Thanks in advance
Dave

Since I haven't been fortunate enough to open up an 08 Acc yet... I don't have an a good answer yet...we will have to wait for someone to wreck one so we can then swoop it up from the salvage yard and take a look at its internals...any volunteers??

Sounds more like a shift linkage issue to me. That will definately change the angle of things! I had an unfortunate event where I bottom out my oil pan a couple of years ago...needless to say, it bent my shift linkage due to the severe engine/trans movement to where 1st gear was where 5th gear was...yeah it was pretty bad! So look into that area very thoroughly!!

Thanks I'll have to look into that once i get everything back together. the only thing is it started when I swapped the trans to my ls. There isnt any difference in linkages between models usdm and jdm or by year or anything that I know of is there?
Thanks to James for Helping at the track this weekend ! Though I had axle issues and my car was on the bench, Kiwi and James hooked me up with a ride to get some track time.
Thanks guys
P.S. what a driver lineup that is as well !

Should all be the same if you are swapping similar years. Did you leave the linkage connected when you dropped the trans and then disconnect it?? That could have caused a little bit of damage. Is it put on correctly?? Not saying you are unfamiliar..but, stuff happens

Steph is cool. A couple years ago he took some time out of working on his car (at Nopi Bristol) to take some pics with me.
IIRC he has been DE'ing for a while. I recall seeing something about a DA Integra with a B16 in it that he used.
