well two of my head bolts holes are stripped out of my block on my b20/vtec swap and im going to do a heli coil but i bought the right size heli coil kit but the problem im having is the tap wont fit down into the whole all the way to the threads it goes down a little then the hole like seems to get smaller my friend suggest that we get a drill bit drill the hole out then use the tap any suggestions i need to get this car back together asap and this is causing alot of time lost on getting it back together.

 

Your suppose to drill it out before you helicoil it! If you are unsure of what your doing I suggest taking it to a machine shop.

 

yes your suppose to drill it out with the tap that comes with the helicoils i know but the tap wont fit all the way down in the hole to reach where the stripped threads are and i dont want to make the entire hole threads with the tap.
