Default SS or aluminum intercooler piping?

I did a search, but didn't find anything so..Just wondering what people prefer and why? I usually use aluminum mainly because I get sections already polished and it's lighter/cheaper. SS is def easier to weld (better looking as well), but heavier/more expensive. Are there any other reason's to go with one or the other, or is it just more personal preference? Sorry if this has been gone over 1,001 times.

i prefer aluminum. i find it easier to work with. personally i like the look better as well, no discoloration at the welds. it is also lighter which is always a bonus. why not use the same material your intercooler is made of? i've heard the arguement that stainless is more resistant to heat, but it is also more resistant to losing heat which can be a bad thing. you are starting to see more and more exhausts in aluminum on here as well, i'd rather hear the debate on aluminum vs stainless there.

It seems like a lot of people are leaning towards ss lately though. I agree with you guys as far as aluminum. Just wondering if there's a trend towards ss and why. Anyone else??

Aluminum is preferred but cost a lot more, after we explain the benefits and downsides to all three, they usually pick mild steel or stainless.

That's strange because I can get al cheaper than ss...Mild steel was never an option for me..lol Although I guess it might be ok if you re-route your pcv system

Where are you getting your stainless from? It depends on straight or prebent. There are a few places in franklin park I deal with , I haven't bought from them since last summer, as I stocked up back then. I'll find out the name and get back to you.
