ok like i said b4 i got a 95 delsol with a 2000 si motor fully built with headerback exhaust and intake and a street tune now i talked to a guy who worked at car v2 and he built a 9 second hatch so he knows wat hes doin he told me if i ran 8lbs of boost and knocked bqck the timing i could boost my car without rebuilding it or a block guard i just want a second opinion from sum 1 who knows alot about boost and does anybody think hondata is worth spendin the 600 dollars for my car and would it make a difference.

 

my friend zeb has had a couple turbo civics he currently has a 600+ hp H22 civic hatch and just recently sold a b16 turbo eg i dont know exactly how much boost he ran i'll ask him today but it put down 296whp and it was easily the fastest honda i've ridden in (i've yet to ride in the 600hp one, the motors out getting refreshed before spring here in kansas)

 

I daily drove 14 lbs on a modified GReddy kit with a stock B16 block. If the tune and build is proper you'll be fine.

And yes, Hondata is worth it.

 

I used to run at 10lbs daily sometimes more depending on the situation..all on a stock block b16 with a pieced together turbo setup
Boost pressure is pretty meaningless its the turbo and tune that makes a difference..how much power are you planning on putting down??

yes hondata is worth it but only if you tune it properly..

 

its an ebay turbo good up to 400hp but im only goin to be pusihin around 300hp give or take a few and i have a street tune on it now untill i get the hondata and after i get hondata ill get a full tune on it thye motor was fully built top to bottom so its all new and i only put 2600 miles on it so far

everyone bashes the ebay turbos... its the manifolds and waste gates from ebay that are crap... the turbo are acually garrett and turbonetics turbos that never passed the test. so some might be ****, but you could get lucky like most the people ive talked to and have no problems with it at all but like everyone else has said your tune will make the difference, but make sure you have arp head studs and a metal head gasket.

 

yea i got arp headstuds ill have to get the metal gasket the manifold is a real nice one im payin 400 for both cuz i did some welding for him so hes makin like a little deal he said u cant even get the manifold for 400 and ill have hondata by then so i can do a real nice tune on it

 

I'd rather buy a legit, REAL turbo than take the risk of being one of the "lucky" ones.

 

why waste your money on an ebay setup and have it possibly blow your motor
what just to save a few bucks thats stupid do it right the first time and be done with it

ps ive talked to a few guys who have pieced together there own setup out of quality parts for just as cheap if not cheaper than an ebay setup

dont really need the hondata for a dd street car. You can use neptune or crome and be fine.

 

-you dont need to run Hondata...Crome works just fine, especially on a stock block setup
-judging things in terms of PSI, doesn't mean anything....you should base your goals in terms of whp
