Default Changing one brake pad

My Rear Passenger side wheel is stuck on the car for now. The rear drivers side brake pad is completely gone and is just grinding. It got to the point where all you hear is grinding when I'm driving. Would it be bad to just change the one pad TEMPORARILY? I'm getting the other wheel off when I have enough time at school. My little theory was it'll be better to have a brand new pad and a good pad then a extremely bad pad and a good one.

It will work for stopping the car, but when you do the other pad (permanently) you should do both of them. I tried that one-pad-change thing one time and it did some weird stuff....

Yep, that was my plan. Pad's run for about 13 bucks anyways. Thanks
