Buying 92 Prelude SI
I've been out of Honda-Tech circle for years since my 2000 B16A Civic was stolen and stripped. I recently my friend want to sell me his 1992 Prelude SI to me for $1500. Here are the details on this car:
1. JDM H22 swap with auto tranny (unfortunately he doesn't drive stick)
2. Has not bee driven for almost a year.
3. The motor burns oil
4. The heat goes to "HIGH" sometime when he's in heavy traffic
5. It got nice sound system :-) and it's blue!
So here are the questions:
Would this car worth buying for the price? How much would I be looking at to fix the heat problem. I'm planning to convert it to 5spd tranny after I got it. I'm also open for any advises.
Thank you

Price seems reasonable to me. I would recommend you get a mechanic to give it a thorough looking over before you decide to buy though. The heating prob could be a simple fix or something alot more complex and costly. As to doing a Auto to Manual conversion there is plenty of writeups explaning the whole process in the archives its pretty straight forward. I supose the main thing you have to consider is the overall cost of getting this prelude in the shape you want and whether you will have enough funds for it. So that is why i recommend a 2nd opinion from a qualified mechanic if you arent confident in checking the vehicle over yourself. Goodluck, hope it works out for you.
yeah good luck man. i just bought a 93 si with a h22a swap in it and i have a few minor problems to sort out. mine had 270k miles on the body though so it was expected to have a few things.
one thing i had to go through was figuring out that my car still had the p14 ECU instead of the p13, which caused a CEL since the vtec solenoid wasnt wired and gave me crappy gas mileage. i swapped in a p13 and i am getting normal gas mileage now. just need to wire my vtec solenoid this weekend.
