I unplgged my vafc last night and forgot to plug it back in this morning when I went to start my car. When the car kicked over it sounded like my engine was gonna to explode it let out this huge backfire and my idle was going crazy my rpm's were ranging frm 200 rpm all the way to 2000 rpm and the exhaust was making a nasty smell along with the chk engine light coming on. I disconnected the battery and connected it again so the chk engine light is now off .I reconnected the vafc and when i started the car it all seemed back to normal. I think. Did I damage my engine in any way ????

the V-AFC hacks into the MAP sensor so for that brief moment you had no MAP signal going into the ecu. You should be fine though.

Been there, done that!
Just reset your car! By disconnecting the Negative battery terminal and make sure that you plug the VAFC back in! That should take care of that problem.
