which is the best d series motor
For boost the best D series is a D16A6 with an aftermarket cam created specifically for boost.
VTEC is less than optimal for boost, but if it's just a street car on modest boost, it certainly wont hurt you.

If I HAD to chose a D-series block for boost, I would go with a JDM D15B or USDM D15Z1. Since the rod ratio on these blocks is MUCH better than the D16 (1.62 vs 1.52), side loading will be MUCH less. This will result in better durability - ESPECIALLY with stock sleeves. Other D15 motors (ie D15B7) have a rod ratio of 1.58 - not as good as the JDM D15B or D15Z1. But still ALOT better than a D16.
Theyre cheap as hell and there is 15643218314869 of them, why not trial and error for yourself or click here https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch .
