Default losing water

hi guys,

I just observed that i am losing water from the radiator. Its fulling up the reservoir. Could it be the cap is going bad. Car runs at normal temp and theres no milkiness on the dip stick.

I have a clear braided hose running to the reservoir and when I switch off you can see the water going into the res. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

there are really only two possible things that could be hommie, bad cap, or blown head. i know your dipstick isn't milky, but it could still be a blown head gasket. check the cap first, if not that, check your head gasket.

Take the car to a service station that has a hydrocarbon tester. Have then pass it over the radiator cap with the engine running or rev it while he tests it.

Your not boosted so may be it's a cap.

to be honest man, i'm pretty sure it's not the cap because assuming that your head isn't blown, your water pump mearly pumps the water, it doesn't create a vacumme, therefore air isn't being sucked in the radiator, all that would do is make you lose coolant out the top i'm pretty sure. I mean, i suppose it is a possibility, i'm just saying from experience, i've never seen that and don't see how it could happen scientifically. i've taken my cap off and run the car for a while before and that doesn't fill up my reservoir tank. pretty sure it's a minor blow in the head gasket, that's what happened to mine when my head blew. didn't even know it was the head either cause there were no tell tale signs like milky oil, or oil in my coolant or anything like that. still try the cap first though, i mean, it won't really cost you much so it can't hurt. I'm like 95% sure it's your head though. I've replaced enough of those (4 on my cars, 2 on friends car) to know the signs. gl .
