best motor for boost???
i just picked up a 93 accord coupe, she is in good condition but slow as ****! i am an american civilian living in Germany, so alot of the work will be done between me and some friends.
i am looking to boost, and my goal is around 250 to 300whp, but my question is... which motor??? i want to stay with an f-series motor, mildy built, for convenience of the swap... and i wouldn't feel as bad blowing an fseries motor vs blowin a H22.
but which one?
F22b sohc
or the F23 sohc vtec????
i have a shop that will be doing the build, then shipping it here to me, and i have a connect in Holland to do some tuning... but finding a motor over here is hard, and the euro rate is killin me as is!
your thoughts please???
mike

f22, because its got the iron sleeves and its cheaper. is the extra $1000 or so for the h22 worth the 50hp gain? as for vtec its a matter of personal preferance, youll hear many differ responses/, vtec is just 1 more thing to go wrong and have to worry about IMO, especially when youre already gonna be boosting

Agreed. It's just a matter of personal preference. Do you see other Mustangs driving around with Vtec?

vtec=more cables, more fluid, more wires and more weight. i dont have vtak, but hey u can put those goofy v tec stickers all over ur car if u decide to go that route (btw: make sure u dont get the vtech knockoff ones, i damn near crashed my car laughing my *** off the other day)
Well if that's a cb7, all of them came with the f22a1/6 and those engines are actually quite capable of boosting up to 250-300 hp with a mild build, although they are sohc non vtec there iron block is more than capable of handling the boost. Also they are alot cheaper then the f22b and f23. I don't know the prices in germany but were I live I picked up a jdm f22a1 full motor for 300 bucks. This engine infact with stood me boosting 14 lbs, with out a build LOL. Stupid yes, but the engine is made tough and with a mild build can easily handle 14 lbs. I ran 6lbs on the stock engine for about half a year without any problems, and gave some cars a run for there money. If you do decide to go f22b I would recommend the dohc version as they are slightly more expensive than an f22a, however with a good build can put up to 400+ hp to the wheel. Just do some research and see whats best for you. I have a link to various turbo 90-93(cb7) accords with f22a's and f22b's(dohc) if you want them just pm me, hope this post helps out.
