Default gas tank latch

HELP! I have a 2004 Civic and the cable to the gas hatch is broken. I am almost out of gas, it's Sunday - is there a way to override the latch?

Do you know that it's broken? It could be just the clip on the cable.

Thank you very much. It has been very cold here - it probably is just the clip. The link is just what I needed, it has a way to over-ride the latch . . . I'll give it a try.

ooo another victim of the gas door cable breaking..

honda is [freak]in up.

the reason majority of them break is that when ppl push the lever, they actually push it down a lot harder than its designed to, therefore putting more stress on the cable and snap! your [freak]ed.

I (mis)spent 20 years in Madison. I've bypassed the latch, it was pretty easy.

not really most break due to the cable rusting apart, the position of the cable on the floor exposes it to alot of moisture.
this is what mine looked like when it snapped last month, surprised it lasted this long(7 years)
