OK, I just had a Viper 5002 2-way pager alarm installed in my Civic and I was wondering if there's any way to boost the signal output for the alarm? What I mean is the pager only works for a very short distance (if I'm like 100 feet away from my car and I hit the lock button it isn't in range anymore). I like the 2-way system but it's kind of pointless to me if I'm walking around a mall or something or out to dinner and my alarm pager isn't able to alert me if someone's trying to steal/break into my car.
Who put the alarm in?
What did the installer do with the excess antenna wire?
Where specifically is the alarm grounded?
The second two questions are very important to determine why you have crappy range.

I have a 5002 and it gets very good range. But better still is my measley 350HV, which gets excellent range because of the care I took in installing it and because the shape of the 2nd gen Integra hatch.
5002 still uses old technology for its transmitter. if you want more range you need a 791xv or better yet a 5900 with sst.
Yeah, but as B18C_EJ8 and myself have alluded to, the install is the critical factor in determining range. I have already seen a number of people come out of CC or BB with the new SST alarms and they're disappointed in the range. By some people's description, my Viper 350HV/DA gets better range. Although my Viper 5900/EG is able to penetrate walls.
usually if your getting bad range then the installer must have zip tied the excess antenna wire which decreases range. check the antenna wire and if it is in fact zip tied or taped up take it back and ask that they extend the antenna wire. your reception will greatly increase....
