leaky oil pump seal
well my car has been down for awhile now but i finally got it runnin a couple days ago. i have a turbo b16 and its leaking from the oil pump seal aka front main seal. i was wondering can i just relplace the seal by pulling off the crank pulley, washers, and gear. pulling out the old seal out and pushing a new one in. or do i have to take off the oil pump?
yes remove the pully and timing components including timing gear. then use a flat blade screwdriver to pop out the seal (comes out easy) just dont scratch the crank. And to install new seal I usually just use a socket the size of the seal and tap it in. Don't push it in all the way just until the seal is flush with the surface of the pump.

No silicone and sealant needed, the washer and crank gear will keep it from popping out.
I’ve done this few times years ago just done one a couple months ago, just checking make sure you lube the edge inside of the new seal before you slide it over the crank, it’ll help slide it in easier. Start it by fitting the new seal by hand first then Tap it lightly with a socket that fits on and around the seal once u get it on the crank and keep it evenly flush with the oil pump as said from above if you go too far in you could cause it to leak again.
