a buddy of mine recently picked up an 03 24v jetta vr6. I know he will definately take me, and i dont want to give him the satisfaction of beating me. So, What will it take for my stock rhd eg6 to beat his stock vr6? mods other than turbo are recommended. Thanks guys, let me kick his ***

 

You have a stock RHD Civic? So, I'm assuming you have a SOHC? Other than turbo, I'm not sure what else you could do.

Even with all the the basic bolt on's, your car will still be slow.

 

its an eg6 imported from japan. it has the b16a, it also came with a cat back exhaust

Is the '03 VR6 the model with 174hp or 200hp? Ive beaten the one with 174hp but Ive never ran the newer model. That was in a stock integra gsr. Im thinking it should be a good race and you wont get completely slaughtered.

 

its the 200hp one, I dont think i will be slaughtered... The power to weight is in my favor, but he has crazy torque on me. do you think just bolt ons? or would i need cams and valvetrain also?

 

hmm... That does sound like a good race. With your short tranny it might be to your advantage.

I say just run him. if he beats you, then mod your car. lol. I was looking at picking up a DA6 last summer.. Was going to keep that thing as stock as possible because of how rare it would have been here in wisconsin.. I don't think it's worth it just to beat your friend.

 

i think a short stretch you'd take him, anything over 1/4 mile and you get housed like the bitch you are.

well, not that you're a bitch, but the stockb16..yeah..nothing person..it just sort of..um..yeah.

basically you gotta build your piece na to take him. i dont see why your so against going boost... even running low boost should be enough to tax him up.

 

lol, just run a side mount and a tiny turbo. He won't see it, or hear it.

that 24v vr would whoop you stock vs stock even with your short geared tranny.

one of my buddies has a mk3 jetta with a 12v vr6 and he beat my friend with a B16 ek by like 3 cars.

 

u'll totally own him for 1/4 mile, then brake like a madman, and do not do it again but i hope u r skilled with shifting

I find that hard to believe. Those 12 valve VR6s have only 172HP and are as heavy as a Mustang. There must have been something REALLY wrong with that B16A. Now I know that an EK is a good deal heavier than a CRX. But back when I had a B16A in my CRX, I just flat-out walked away from one of these cars. Also, 200HP might sound like ALOT. But those cars are some serious boat anchors when it comes to weight.
