Default Walbro pump rumors...true or not?

Well i was looking to replace my stock pump since its been in there for 17 years and i have to drop the tank anyway to find my fuel leak....

I have seen just Walbro mentioned as a replacement but i heard rumors about them such as:
That you need to keep 1/4 tank of gas or you'll burn out the pump,
Decent chance a pump may be defective even brand new out the box,
Very loud compared to stock pump,
Alot of people selling knock off Walbro's

Can you Walbro owners speak the truth please!!!
Also which pump did you go with for a b16 motor....180,190 or 255?
I know stock would be fine but like i said i wanna replace it anyway since the tank will be down! And i don't know the flow rate of the stock pump.

Is Walbro the company everyone goes with?

I used a 255 with my b16 set up. i recommend using a fpr if you use it. And yes it is louder than stock but that'll happen with any upgraded fuel pump. As far as keeping a 1/4 tank of gas i never had that problem. And i also upgraded my fuel pump fuse to a 30amp

^^Toads comment is correct. I run a stock d15b2 setup with a walbro 255lph no FPR. Ive never had any problem at all. Dropped it in and ran with it. It is noisy compaired to stock. Turning the radio up or pressing the throttle harder it seems to cure it.

I would reccommend just pushing the throttle harder than turning up the music who need music when you are pushin the throttle aggressively

if you don't want to drop the tank you could always get your cutoff wheel out and cut around the backseat bottom around where the plug goes. It ain't the prettiest way to do it but if dropping the tank isn't and option than you could do that. Just make sure there's no leaks so you don't catch your car on fire/blow it up. and also make sure you seal the bare metal edges you just cut so they don't start to rust!!
