Honda Civic Si Engine harness..
I have a 1997 DX Coupe(obd2a) that I'm doing a B-series swap into next week. I bought a 2000 Si engine harness(obd2b) for my swap. Will everything work even if my chassis harness is Obd2a and my engine harness is obd2b?? Or will I have to change my chassis harness before I do my swap to obd2b?? Any one done this before on a 96-98?? Thanks for the help!
First I'd say for you to check out --> http://technet.ff-squad.com
Typically you wouldn't use a Si harness since you can use your existing one with no problems and get a ECU conversion harness depending on ECU being used.
Why did you buy the harness if your not sure it is going to work or did it just come with your swap? Not to ask this question to be an *** hole but just curious. Maybe you heard somewhere this is the way to do it.
I'm fixing a 97 EK w/ a GSR swap that has been sitting for a year because they could not figure out the wiring and they used a Si harness and ECU.
I just picked up a 98 ek vtec harness and once he gets his ecu we'll have this done right.

I bought the swap it came with out the engine harness but I had also purchased a 2000 civic si interior with all of the wiring/ dash included, it even came with the chassis harness and engine harness and all of the wiring for power doors. It pretty much came with with all of the wiring from fuel pump to the head lights. But I was wondering if I could do the engine swap before having to do the 2000 civic dash conversion/ chassis harness conversion. The reason being that its cold out here in Chicago
and gets dark early and I dont have a garage or the time set aside yet to do all the chassis harness conversion yet, but I had set aside time from work and found a Garage to use next weekend march 14-16 for the engine swap. I was planning on running it for a couple of weeks or possibly a month if it would work with the obd2a chassis harness then doing the si dash/chassis harness conversion asap. But if it wont run then I would have to see if I could find some one to do the si dash/ chassis harness conversion for me or get extra time off of work all before my swap comes in. my car is also my daily driver. Any help is apreciated.

The "wiring experts" don't mess with scenarios like that. Why bother spending time depinning your existing harness when you could just get one that would work with no mod?

yeah gauge cluster, rad fan, a/c fan, and vtec wont work, get a 96-98 ex harness or reuse the harness you already have from the car the swap is going into..

the reason I also is that I already have the si engine harness and all the si wiring so I wouldn't have to purchase anything, and by me changing the chassis/floor harness it would allow me to upgrade my doors to power doors. I was planning on upgrading all of the dash/ chassis wiring/ doors at a later time cause of the weather and my time restriction.

Dude, the harness WILL NOT WORK with your car. Period. OBD-2A has all the ecu plugs integrated into the engine harness. OBD-2B has only two of the plugs. The other plug is in the interior harness. Unless you want to swap your whole dash harness (which I am not sure if you even can into a 96-98) then its NOT GOING TO WORK.

If you are going to replace the entire vehicle harness with the Si interior floor harness, dash harness and engine harness, then yes you can use it, otherwise you will need a '96 - '98 EX harness.
need some advice. I have an EJ6 (2000 civic hatch) shell and also a complete 2000 civic si that i'm parting out for the hatch. So my deal is, a few of the wires have been cut. One is by the where the battery goes. The other two are smaller cables on the other side of the engine bay. Anyhow, I was planning on installing the power doors and windows from the si. My question is basically, should/can I take the harness from the SI? If not, I'd have to figure out which wires are cut and then reconnect the wires after I order them.. I'm going to take all of the interior as well... please help!
im actually doing this harness swap. my car is currently obd2a, 96cx with b16a2. my reason for doing it is to take my car to state ref and have it bar'd. No jumper harnesses are allowed so i am forced to use the original harness for the motor.
