I was using hte stock Z6 cam gear and it was fine on my set up...I was running a D15b2 block with a Z6 head. my guess is you either didnt convert to OBD1 properly. or you are running a Z6 distributor and still didnt modify anything to account for that.

tell us what kind of distributor and intake and what OBD0 or OBD1 you are running? I know you are running a P28 so did you convert everything over to OBD1? like your injectors, etc?

alright well this is how it is right now. i have a stock 1992 honda del so with a d16z6 on it. but the block was blown and i had a 89 honda crx which is a d16a6 motor and decided to do a mini me cause i had the 2 piece to make a good mini me right. a6 with a z6???? so long story short i change the head gasket to a z6 along with a timing belt. this is all i changed on the the car : block, HG, timing belt. everything else is the same on 16z6 ie manifold, ecu, dizzy.etc

when i did my mini me on my rex i had the same problem. make sure ur plug wires are in the corect spot on the dizzy. after you do that and it doesnt start make sure all ur grounds are on even the smallest ground can cause problems. if it still doesnt start take out the spark plug closest to the driver cyl#1 put a long screw driver in there and move the crank till that piston is to the haiest it will go right before it goes back down. then with a white out mark the very top of the crank to indicate top dead center. ok ur block is tdc now take of the timing belt by loosining the tensioner then after that take it of the cam pulley. after you get it off you can time the head by using the marks on the pulley it will say top and it will have lines arount the pulley.there is a back plastic cover behind the pulley where when you get the cam to have the word up, up obviously one line should line up with the back plastic cover. after that make sure the block hasnt mooved and put the timing belt still being carefull that the crank doesnt move. tension it properly. after you put it back together move the crank by hant to make sure it doesnt hit the valves. if everithing is good try to start it. if it doesnt adjust ur valves to specs. let me know what happens after everything.

also use the z6 timing belt

Try taking off the dizzy, align the cam with the #1 on the dizzy than reinstall the timing belt. When doing a minime conversion, dont go by the TDC
