how to pull check engie codes? burning oil?
i am very unfirmiliar with diag on hondas and was wondering 2 things about a 1990 civic w/ sohc 1.5L: 1, how do i pull the check engine code?, and 2, is there any common causes of an oil burning condition (other than usual rings or valve seals) on these cars in specific. i am going to be working on a car a friend of mine just bought, and i havent even open the hood on this thing yet, just trying to get a little info before i start. thanks a lot in advance.

to find the codes pull up the carpet on the passenger side and you will find the ecu. unbolt the cover, it has 4 10mm bolts. the ecu will be flashimg the code ,if it has one.
If its stock then reading the flashes is similar to morse code, in that there are kind of dots and dashes/ quick flashes and long flashes. the quick flashes are single numbers (1-9), and the long flashes are multiples of 10.
if its converted to obd1 you have to jump service connector, which is a plug above and to the right of the ecu near the ac/heater motor.
