Default 01 CRV 4wd transmission trouble

My wifes Crv is doing some strange stuff. Its an automatic by the way and has 130,000miles on it. It started to stutter in traffic about a month ago and is happening more and more often. Can anyone tell me what causes this? or how to maybe fix this thanx

I don't know what degree of stutter you are describing, but the rear differential is prone to making a groaning noise while turning if the fluid isn't changed every 30k miles. Maybe yours had progressed to the point of causing a "stutter" while straight line driving? Just a wild guess.

Any check engine lights? You probably just need a basic tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, PCV valve, seafoam treatment, etc etc) or are you sure it's the transmission?

No check engine lights. It may just need a basic tune up I dont know, I was told it got one at 110,000miles when we bought it. I will try to get the rear differential fluid changed this weekend if I can. To better describe the problem it revs really high between gears under normal driving conditions. also last weekend I california stoped at a corner and got back on the gas smoothely and it took almost 2 full seconds for the car to get moving like it was confused about what gear to use...

I will try to get it looked at soon and i will post updates until the problem is fixed

That sounds more like the torque converter has gotten hot, or there's something hanging up the L/C control or L/C shift valve inside the trans. Any of these problems should set a P0740 DTC though. Might want to have the dealer check for codes.

dtc p0740 failure will only set if the vehicle is moving at 50-60mph cause the tcc only operates at that mph and that when the pcm checks for that errror.
And if your engine revs up then comes back down between gears thats an internal transmission issue, probably worn clutches.
dtc's may not have set yet but if the issues gets worse i would expect a p0730 ( incorrect gear ration ).
I would get ready for a trans overhaul if your getting that rpm flare up between gears.
Also on your studder have your valve clearance checked ( big deal for old crv ).
