Default Ceramic vs. Stainless Steel.. Tried search, no help..

I was curious.. Is there a "real" performance difference between the 2.

I am refering to the jdm DC 4-1 Header.

Getting deal so good that I just can't pass up...

TIA

My DC JDM ceramic cracked after 6 months. If you run your car hard alot at the track and such I would go with at least the stainless steel DC.

Performance difference is non-existant. Ceramic coated headers use cheap mild steel which conducts heat but is contained with the ceramic coating. Stainless steel doesn't conduct heat very well to begin with. It pretty much evens out heat-wise, with stainless just being better quality.

Well what about getting a SS header and getting itn Ceramic coated? Best of both worlds

I've realized that the ceramic DC headers tend to crack after awhile, so I suggest you get the SS version and get it Jet Hot coated

As aforemetioned, there is no performance difference. I personally am trying to get my hands on a SS because it will last longer. I also remember reading that the SS DC headers are slightly thicker (lower guage), but I am not certain. Ceramic is cheaper, but for 60-80 bux, it's my understanding that SS is worth it.

Do not confuse ceramic coating with cracking welds. Welds crack when they are not well done, not just because they are ceramic coated.

Having said that, the old USDM DC ceramic coated headers were known to crack. I have friends that have had them welded up at the crack, and had no problems since.

Dunno about the ceramic coated JDM DC 4-1.

Even the USDM SS headers cracked. At the welds. The one I had on my GS-R cracked. This is the only header I have ever seen crack.
Which ever one you get, plan on it cracking. If it was me, and DC was the only header in the world, I would get the SS, have it rewelded, and then coated...
