hey i got a 2001 integra type r i swap a used 2000 itr back in, cause i blew my original one. now. the car runs very odd. it makes idle noises like you o2 sensors is screwed and when i turn my headlights on it idles up and down, with my head lights beams and all my gauges flashes or dims on and off. figure it was the alternator which i replace new it now starts my car but still same problem. even my stereo lights going wacko. what kind of electrical problem is this? even if i gas it it dims and flashes faster.i never see this promblem before. my friend says it can be a battery but i replace it too same problem. does any one know whats wrong with my car? my check engine light is on also too.

 

Check all your grounds
tranny ground
thermostat ground
valve cover to rad support ground

 

check your codes and go from there

hmmm yea we try the grounds but same problem ill double check, also i forgot to mention my rpm gauge works but not my speedometer,lol cant tell how fast im going. yea it starts and drive fine. but when i let sit for a day ill start it the next day to awrm it its idles fine then when i gas it thats when this wacko electric problem happens gauge and headlights startes to flash on and off or dims on/off.

 

yea check the grounds all hook up. but now the car is dead. i beleive its the battery. something is draining it. thats also a new battery. i had this problem, but i fix it by changing the new alternator, but it was used. then car started. now its happening again.

 

i had a problem in my friends r i built where the lights were flashing and the car was putting miles on sitting still, had a code for the ELD(electrical load detector) and i switched it and still didnt work. Got a wiring diagram and found the secondary o2 is tied into, jacked the car up and the o2 sensor was melted and the wires were grounding out on the exhaust. Sounds exactly like whats happening to you check it out maybe ill be right.

 

I had the same issues before, especially when you say something about the lights dimming with the motor rev. it ended up being my ECU that was bad... if you have another one around or have a friend with one you should try that.
