i think thats what he means. i have one pretty cool but one time my friend tried to start it while it was in gear. i had to give him a good slap over the head for doing something so stupid.

you can run a wire from your ignition switch, straight to your starter. My friend did this to his car so he doesnt have to push the clutch down. Maybe i can take some snap shots on how he did.

 

i think there's something by the fuse box by ur left knee. i had something unplugged that was related to my clutch-bypass something or another...

 

try to get some pics or some more info please. im use to havin the bypass and im already tired of havin to hold the clutch down to start the car. thanks.

This is SOO not even necessary. Find the switch at the top of the clutch pedal assembly that gets pushed when the clutch is in. Don't do the one made for the cruise control since this won't help you. Unplug the switch and stick a paperclip in the two prongs and leave it unplugged. Done.

Just jump the 2 wires going to the switch. Not a big deal really.

Just a question... but weren't you the 1 who bypassed the switch??

Why do people want to bypass the switch anyhow?? Just curious..not flaming...

 

x2, why do people like by-passing the clutch? Make sure not to start it in gear, unless you have a fat wallet

 

If the car is in gear, once you start to crank it over your hand will jump off the key because it'll be quite the surprise. The car will lurch forward but it won't just take off. Even if the engine started, it would stall shortly thereafter. It's just there to prevent you from bumping other cars by accident.

 

I know what happens with no switch...my question is WHY do people get rid of it on purpose?

If the switch failed for some reason then ya, I can see a lil laziness getting in the way of fixing it. But to take the time to bypass it??? For what???

I cant think of any possible positive to this equation.

 

It comes in handy in colder climates if you want a remote start for a manual car.

That's true, but any good shop shouldn't install it like that. You can preserve the switch with the proper relays and still remote start it.
