obd1 or obd2
i bought an h22a and im not sure if its an obd1 or obd2. Don't know the year!! How can you tell? The ecu i was running was a p28. I'm planning to run a p72 from a 96 gsr and the plugs won't fit. I'm thinking its obd2 since the ecu is an obd2. Am i right???

yea check out xenocron.com they have them for like $120 i bought and ecu from there and shippin was fast but then again i leave in south jersey and they are located in north jersey
its probally a hondata oor another company that has done the same thing p28 obd2 ecu meaning the obd2 conectors are wired into the obd1 ecu so you dont need a jumper harness to to use it wich i hope i can get one day for my turbo build
So unless there was a jumper harness contected to that ecu thta you forgot to take off thta probally then ride with the p28 and tune it for your car or sell it and use wat ever ecu you want and if u decided to sell your ecu take pics and i have dibs on it

OMG. Do people just care about post counts on this site, or is it just because they don't know how to read? I'm sorry to be so rude, but come on people.
All that matters is the year of your car, and the year of the ECU. The year of your engine doesn't matter at all, when it comes to which ECU plugs right into your car. Your signature says that you have a "h22 EG", so clearly you have a '92-'95 Civic, which makes your car automatically OBD1. Knowing that your car is OBD1, the plugs that go into the ECU are also OBD1. If you're trying to use a P72 1996 GS-R ecu, then you need an "OBD1 to OBD2A conversion harness". The 1996 P72 is OBD2A, meaning it has completely different plugs than the '92-'95 OBD1 plugs.
So... you can either buy the OBD1 to OBD2A conversion harness, or your other choice is to get the P28 chipped and programmed to run the P13 (H22A ecu) maps. If you really want to know what year your engine is though, for whatever reason, it's imprinted on the front of your engine, like this:

But take a note that the '96 H22As were actually still OBD1 (like the H22A that picture was actually taken from).
