Default CTR Cams

I have a 1995 GSR with basic bolt ons. Blox intake manifold, header, intake, etc. I want to put CTR cams in the car. Im not sure if I need to get the car tuned or just raise my VTEC to 6000 with the stock gsr ecu. Should I;

a)Get my ecu socketed for hondata, run a program like the s100 and get the car tuned.

b)Get a obd1-->obd2 conversion harness and run a P73(ITR ecu)

c)just get a vtec controller, bump my crossover to 6k, and run my stock p72

The only reason I do not like option b is because I have always hated OBD2 cars. I had problems with my last car and didnt think it responded well to mods being obd2.

I searched and searched and searched. However, no one has asked this exact question. At least not that I could find. Thanks for the info.

d) Chip your ecu and get it socked and run crome cheaper then all options mentioned and will do a good job. Either run a ITR basemap(ok) or get a local crome tuner to tune it(best)

thanks illusive! To run crome do you still have to get the ecu socketed for hondata?

you get your ecu socketed for a chip not like you do for hondata. And you cant do a obd1 to obd2 conversion with a jumper harness. Plus with all the stuff you have done already you should get it tuned anyways. You are not getting the potential out of your car at all. Also make sure you are doing valve springs. You can just get the type r intake springs and then move your current intake springs to the exhaust side. Your stock exhaust springs are single springs the type r has dual on intake and exhaust sides.

go with Hondata s100 $199 + $50 for installation and a base map from
Pure-Tuning...... thats brand new and its Hondata rather than a knockoff....

i don't know why you can't find this info on ctr/itr cams and tuning. there's so much out there, you just need to read the threads.

Valve spring upgrades highly recommended.. tuning is a must, look into what your local tuners use, chrome, uberdata or whatever and go with that.
