question on a vtec built
i was wondering if it would be ok if i put ctr cams and run a ITR OBD2b ECU with my GS-R motor. i think the ctr vtec is similar to the itr. and i'll be running stock gst valve train. thanks
i m also planning on runing my gsr IM without the butterfly

It will work, but it will not be optimized for the car. My guess is that the VTEC point will be set too high with the stock GSR intake manifold. Are you upgrading the valve train as well to handle the higher rev limit?
for now, i am keeping stock valvetrain and stock gsr cams. i want to go this route because i need a ECU right now as my stock gsr ECU is a different wire configuration. i don't want to spend 125 on a jumper harness when i can get another ECU for about 100-150. with that said, I plan is to get an ITR ECU, and later upgrade the valvetrain and cams to CTR stuff in the future. my main concern is the IM. I dont mind upgrading to a ITR IM or if i can do with a Gsr one with the butterfly removed. also, I am wondering if I would be able to pass smog. I figure the non-vtec lobes are all pretty much the same and that's the rpm range they smog your car with.
