Default WEight of trunk lid 1998 civic coupe

Does anyone know the weight of the trunk lid of a 1998 civic coupe. I am asking because I am considering getting a carbon fiber trunk lid but I will only get it if the weight savings is worth it. Thanks

Not worth it really, CF is fo shooo. But if you have the money it could save you about 10 pounds. If you want to shave weight remove P/S, A/C, Tar

I have one sitting around here. Estimate is 15-20 pounds. Twenty-five pounds tops. It's not heavy. It's just a weird shape.

IMO There is a pretty good weight difference in the two. I had a Vis Racing CF lid on mine and that thing weighed nothing! When I would pop the trunk, the lid would fly up like it was nothing! Thought the damn thing would break off every time I opened it. I really loved that trunk lid though, had to go back to the oem one damn thieves

Cool, thanks for all the input. Since I have already pretty much taken out anything I can (seats, carpet, ac) it sounds like it might be worth it to get a cf lid if I can maybe get it used or at a discount. Also sounds like a good idea to get it painted. Thanks again

Be prepared for having to drill for the lock (and install) and the latch (and install). I have also heard of rattling issues that cannot be solved.
