To much tranny oil?
I searched and found that a b16/b18 tranny takes 2.2 qts . I asked the acura dealership and they said it takes 5! i still picked up 3 i think maybe they were thinking motor oil, i drained my tranny oil in my 98 gsr and it looked like more than 2 qts so i put 3qts of the new honda mtf, i removed the speed sensor and filled from there, is this to much and will this couse any problems? After i changed it and drove it it still shifted a little more rough than before, will this go away couse i just changed the fluid? any help would be great!
what you should have done, what is the recommended amount, and the correct way to do it. there is a bolt that is supposed to be used for filling the tranny.. not the speed sensor. its located right by the passanger axle, its got a thing for a 3/8ths drive ratchet. fill it up, untill it starts to leak the only pain in the *** about it is you need a funnel with a hose so you can run it up to the engine bay, the hole is sideways.
i custom made one. funnel, duct tape, and some old vac hoes clamped together. just to extend and secure the funnel to the hoes.
to check tranny fluid down the road remove bolt and stick your pinky finger in. if you can feel it then your probly good. if you cant filler up! it usually takes about 2.5 ISH to fill my gsr tranny up. sure its the same for all b series.
if it wasnt 3 in the morning id run out there and take a picture for you. but i took my aderal at like 5 tonight and i cant sleep

So many people take the easy way out and make mistakes. Pull bolt 18 (the intended fill port) in the following diagram and drain out the excess. When fluid quits coming out, the oil level is correct. We'll forgive you if you cry a little as that expensive fluid pours out and goes to waste.

Buy yourself a $3.00 flexible funnel and fill through the hole for bolt 18 next time.

Thanks for the replys, am i ok with an extra 1/2 qrt or should i pull the filler bolt out untill fluid stops pouring? and is there really a diffrence in where i pour the fluid like the speed sensor instead of the intended filler bolt. It just seemed easier and simpler.

Your axle seals may leak a little if the level is too high. Your MPG may also be lowered a bit. I do not think that it will damage the transmission.

If you changed the fluid and put too much in and noticed a difference in smoothless like you said... take out the extra and do it the right way next time. You should notice no worse changes if something is done right.

i never seen anyone fill up at the speed sensor, is that bad or doesnt make difference?

everyone i know does it from there, but i only go from th side. at least from the side you'll know that you're good once it starts to leak out a little. from the top you really don't know

nothing wrong with that, just make sure you put the correct amount in the tranny.

#11 looks to be the tranny mount bolt, and both #24's (at the top, kinda cut in half) are the mount studs. I don't think you've been filling your tranny from any of those locations
