Default My motor swap with pics. (k24a1-T)

The pics are to come later tonight. So as some might know i let my friend take my car for a run. He took it to redline in 3rd and went to 2ed and not 4th. So the motor over reved like whoa. long story something was jacked so i put a new motor on order. I had the choies of going with the stock k20a3 but i thought why not go with the k24a1, more tq and hp for a few bills more. So I bought one, 30k on the motor with great comp. and leak down for $1300 shipped. Well today I got my a3 out and i plan to pull the trans off and bolt it up to the k24a1 along with my tapped oil pan from my a3 (since i'm turbo'ed). So my new set up will be, k24a1, arp studs, RC 550's, greddy kit, full 2.75inch exhaust, Test pipe, kpro, greddy type s bov, greddy fmic, oil cooler, new stage 4 clutch (act), motec 3 bar map sensor, and a tune from tony or jason, Not sure yet on the tuner, price will play a big roll. Stay tuned for pics.

You can use the a3 ecu with 310 injectors but it will run rich. The best bet is to use kpro and do it right. I just needed to swap my clutch and rsx-s flywheel over and it's done. I did this whole swap by myself. No one helped my with any of it. From pulling the motor to putting the new one in. So if i can do it anyone can that's not a retard.

Every EP3 should look like yours (i.e. stock look, not too low ride height, and boost).

Thanks for sharing your plans with us. More pictures, please.

Good choice, leave it as is. I heard it is quite similar to the CTR suspension.

I have ridden in my buddys with h&r race springs and hfp is by far the best. I see no point in dumping a car.

I'm glad you know what you're talking about and don't think like this guy.

On with the topic, PM me instead. I don't want to mess up your thread and start a conversation here.

Ok guys, The swap and turbo is in as of today. First of all I don't want to hear any crap about how my bay is ugly or trashed, I know and will clean it up once i get the rest of the car back togather. So on with the install. You can tell the a1 sits higher then the a3 and it makes fitting the turbo a real pita. Tunning is a must for this setup. The tq from just the motor is crazy, it pulls so much harder even without boost. on a 1-10 scale of how hard this was i would have to say a 9. Getting everthing to fit right and run smooth is not easy. If anyone has any questions let me know. Here are the pics.

The blown a3

the motor coming out

My empty bay.

The k24a1 with the greddy turbo bolted up.

It is very tight to fit the bitch in.

Getting my charge pipes hooked up.

the valve cover bolted back on.

The batt. back in.

and what it looks like now.

enjoy.

what if i m going to use an k24a2 or a4.. still plugs right up? and bolts in with no issues? i know i would most likley have to use a different ecu in this case.. is this like b series for series swaps... k series for k series.. that simple?

In a nut shell yea. It will bolt up but you will need kpro. I'm worried if i can't get it drivable im gunna have to get a trailer and pull it to houston or dallas to have it tuned. I want to drive it since gas is so damn high.

nice... but i must suggest a wire tuck.. you got sooo many wires... and stuff.. relocate battery and fuse box and stuff for a better engine install..that looks like someone just did their 1 swap... which i presume...
