95 civic will not shift into gear PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
I have a 1995 civic that will barely shift into gear. It was doing fine until today, i go to pull out of the parking lot and the thing will not shift into gear for anything. The clutch feels like there is nothing there but when i finally do get it into gear and get going it is fine. I dont understand what is causing this problem. Please does anyone have any ideas?
I put new fluid in and the tranny should be good, but i did just install an ebay shifter, could that be the problem and if so what would be the problem?

Did you put the right weight in ? I did that once in a nother vehicle, put in the wrong weight and the damn thing wouldnt shift for doodoo, unless i could acually get it going in first.

i think your fine im thinking trucks and gear oil long day, you said you put a new shifter in it . i am not the one to say what may be wrong with it, but if your trouble started after you installed it, i'd start there bro. Someone will be on here to clarify it for you, Alot of really knowledgable peeps here, give a couple minutes.
if u install a new shifter, did u tighten the nut/bolt reallie hard, if u did then that's the problem. you have let it loose until u can acutally shift perfectly. sometimes that's the problem.

The bolt being too tight would be that bad an issue since the bolt runs through a sleeve.. What it may be is that he did not use the correct spacer set. Check the instructions of it came with any, and also search for shifter install DIY's. Look at the pics there (or read) and detirmine if you used the right amount of spacers..
