Default B18B1 question

Im building my b18b1 ls motor, and boosting it. my friend told me to go with a oem type r water pump and oem type r oil pump.

Now would that be the thing to do or should i leave it stock. my freind said leaving it those pumps stock could give you a bigger chance of blowing the motor.

PLEASE HELP O E M type r water pump and oil pump???

you could change them. or you could be like every other tom dick and harry that have boosted ls' and leave them stock and run them for the next couple years.

I dont think its a necessity, but it wouldnt hurt. And like someone said earlier you match timing belt to water pump.

Im doing the same build on my B18b1 block with a b16a2 head. Yes you can use either a GS-R or Type R water pump on the block without fear of it lining up or fitting and if you do make sure you use the same timing belt for whatever bump tou use.

But be aware that the GS-R and Type R water pumps have 22 teeth where as the b18b1 has 19 teeth. Having more teeth will actually help you if your running in the high rpm range, because the water pump will pump slower than the factory pump making sure the water is be pushed and circulated through out the engine.

Rock on dude

i heard that with the type r oil pump its alright to change but
sometimes it can do more harm than good. the type r oil pump
might, in general, push alittle too much oil sometimes that if
neccessary for the turbo and in all real;ity you somewat lose power
instead of gaining power
