Alignment Setting For Better Turning?
I work at a Honda and Acura Shop that does all kinds of work on them. We have one of the newest Hunter PC-based alignment machines that has the digital heads and all the factory-spec software, etc.
ANYWAYS:
My question is what kind of alighment settings can be dialed in for much better handing? You can be general if you want to, or try picking something for my own car:
1992 Civic CX hatch
Type R engine/tranny with ATS 4.929 FD with LSD
Koni Yellows on Eobach ERS 425FR 550RR springs
No front sway
14mmRear sway
Skunk 2 upper front A-arms for camber adjustments
Weight:
2040lbs. w/o me in it.
If I wanted max handling for auto-X ot a raod course with no reguard for tires, what would I set the camber and toe up front and rear and WHY?
Thanks in advance!

I just put on my azenis and will have to get some good trial and wear on them before letting you know what i think about my choice of alignment settings. I can tell you they are going to need a whole different setup than what i was using with the 712's i was running before. I have -1.5F/-1.3R camber and 0/-.04 In on rear for toe. I already told you this tom but for the people that don't know my setup. I think this setup was very good with the kumhos but now i've got to figure everything out again. I've forgotten what a pain it is to figure out every little detail since i've had the same setup for a year until today.
Oh yeah, and tom, up for a mountain run on sunday? I'd like to get find out what tire pressures i need to run in these tires before sunday so i might go up there and find out so i'll have the right settings for next weekends auto-x

Toe it out a little bit front and rear. If it's not within factory spec don't worry about it.

i have found for autocross i run 1/8 toe out up front, with 0 toe in the rear works best for me. this is on a 94 civic that is a bit porkier than yours, at 2398 race weight. bear in mind i am running 670lb front springs, and 580lb rears with a 26mm rear sway bar and stock front sway bar. as far as camber goes, i run -3 degrees around, and the wear on my hoosiers is flat. when i had stock itr suspension under the car, i ran the same alignment (1/8 out in front, 0 in rear) with stock camber settings and found it worked perfect also. if you toe the rear out any more, it will snap around on you, with not much warning. i prefer to run more rear tire press (44psi or higher) vs the front (34psi) to get the car to rotate to my liking.try it there and see what works best for you.
Hey 0white3, how about for a heavier car like a Prelude? I autox my stock 4th gen S, and together we're 3,000 lbs.
My roommate is taking an autoshop class where he can do my alignment for me; he says the stock Honda setting is zero toe up front. Should I try some mild toe-out? Camber? Doesn't camber turn into caster when you turn the wheels (or something like that)?
Thanks
Dan

Wow, I guess I'm a little more aggressive in my alignment. . .
3 neg camber up front w/ 2mm toe out
2 neg camber in rear w/ 1mm toe in
8 degree castor
31psi Kumho Ecsta V700 front
30psi same in rear
Car is neutral.
