Default In search of HO alternator for 08 model

My first post!

Just got this car (obviously) and about to put in a system that will draw 700-800 watts continuous. I'm assuming that I will need a new alternator and possibly a red top battery.

Cant seem to find HO alternators for 08 civics. Guess it is too new. Will those made for 06/07 work in an 08? What's a good website/brand?

thanks in advance!

Tony

We have never failed to get an alt. for any car we have ordered for, from Ohio Gen., always a good product, and always good customer support if we run into a problem. 94

that's good to know. thx

I'm waiting to hear back from them. gave em the part number to my 08 alt; he's checking to see what can fit.

what would you expect to pay for a new and true 160A alt?

How much the alt. will be is hard to say, we have paid as much as $750 for 150A or bigger alt. 94

The guy never got back to me, so I bought an alt from AlterStart (has eBay store).

170a for $360 (includes shipping and 4 gauge wire). Not bad, right!?

Also bought a battery today. Optima yellow top deep cycle.

A guy at work says he can install the alt. he looked at it and said it would be easy but his only question was where the tension lever was to loosen the belt. Have any idea? I'm a computer guy, not very smart when it comes to engine stuff.

thanks for all of your help
