Default Tuning. Topic may be too broad. IDK

if im blind and theres a forum for this, please redirect and my apologies.

So i really have no bearing in the tuning universe at all. So im going to try and make this as to the point as i can and hopefully you fine fellas can send me the right direction.

i have a 93 Si With a JDM b16, I had a friend check the ECU and it is in facet chipped. he had no way of knowing what the chip is. heres a few of my questions:

is there a way to know what chip it is?
what setup is needed to tune a car?
is it possible to load other maps for a similar setup?
aside from the wideband, where does all this stuff plugin/run to?

Thanks to all!

thanks luserkid

chip reader/burner you say. what brands are the must respected for tuning?

ah. and then you need a chip r&b right? laptop? if theres any other little things, let me know.

as far as a street tune, is there a huge difference in power output/ reliability versus dyno tuning. the impression im getting is that theres just a few HP to get out of a dyno.

well, you have the ecu, the chip is in the ecu, the laptop tunes the ecu, i guess you burn the chip, but is there a data cord that you need to run from the wideband to the laptop to the ecu? thats where im confused.

thanksagain!

The wideband is run to the ecu much like the factory o2.

I believe the comp connects to the ecu by either usb cable or serial port. Depending on the tuning software and hardware.

All the answers you seek are on this site, get ready to do ALOT of reading, or pay someone who already knows what they are doing to tune it for you.
