civic as a first car
Would a 2002 civic be a good first car? Are they reliable when they have about 100,000 miles on them? How long will the engine last? How long till it starts having exspensive problems? Im looking at getting a manual one. I have heard that the tranny dies with low miles on them. Is true and how common is this problem if it is true? Thanks

Automatic transmissions are the ones with notorious transmission failures, although it's not uncommon to see weak syncros in manual transmission '01 and '02 Civics.
100,000 miles is a baby if the car was well kept for. A well kept Civic should run 200,000+ miles.

i would do timing belt, im pretty sure its done at 105k, but depending on how the person drove it and weather conditions it was driven, to be on the safe side....
