Best Daily driver trans for a turbo b18???
I just blew a tranny(I think) today on my way down the thruway...My rpm's were going nuts (about 4100 @ 65mph in 5th gear) Then something started grinding...and the stick got real tight...definitely smelled like trans fluid. I'm wondering if the gear ratio's were off to begin with (recently bought the car) and was curious about what tranny would give me a lower rpm (not screaming at 65 in 5th) I had a b16 tranny on there, but i'm wondering if the b18 off an ls would be better. Thanks for the help...still kinda new...
I'm pretty much about to take out the turbo and intercooler...put in an ls tranny...and get it back to a relatively stock b18. Any idea what someone would charge to take out a turbo/intercooler setup...or should I just do it myself? Also, what could I expect to get for the turbo (Garret t3 .42 a/r .48) and intercooler (JR intercooler and tubing)? Any info would help...good/bad idea? Thanks
