Default california motor swaps.....

wassup fellows need some help here....i have a 95 eh hatchback planning on swapping a jdm motor...and im trying to find out if a 89 jdm sir motor will pass the state ref here in california...plz let me know if itll pass....thanks much...if it wont pass what type of motor will pass...

No it wont pass because the motor is older than the car.

same or newer. Also motor must come out of a passenger vehicle if it's going in a passenger vehicle. For example B20 from the CR-V into your civic is a no-no.

A LS motor is the EASIEST motor to BAR. It'll also let you go LS-VTEC with no problems from cops

will LS-VTEC pass state ref...here in stockton cops are strick they made me do a smog with an intake that didn't have a carb on it.....i want a motor that will pass state ref and pretty quick and also want to go the cheap way.....

Go with an LS, they're pretty cheap and it will pass with no problems.

Actually, I wouldn't go with an LS if you have smog concerns. The problem with the LS is that it is one of those motors that leaves you wanting more. And you are likely going to resort to stuff like a VTEC head in order to get more from it. In other words, stuff that is going to cause smog problems. For this reason, I would set my sights higher: B18C or H22A. Either of these motors will pass the ref just as easily as an LS. But both will give you more power and torque. And, if you make upgrades to such things as cams and/or bore diameter, these upgrades will be invisible to anyone without tearing down the engine and examining the parts. Yes, these motors cost more than an LS. But both are MUCH more capable as well.

i think it should pass if u run all the stock piping and the sensors with extensions and
put ur air stock boxes back on.....yeah and if not ur going to have to do a swap kid....
