cotton in speakerbox
i have a 2 6x9 almanis in 2 seperate boxes. i recently purchased some cotton and i was wondering if i should stuff the box, some people say it can catch on "fire" but some people say its realy good to use. help plz im going to do this tonight.
Catch fire? I guess anything is possible, however the chances of that are about the same as your car catching fire because the engine overheated, so probably nothing to worry about.
There are a couple of reasons for "stuffing" a speaker box, I will not go into now, but to say if you do, stuff one box and have a listen to see if it makes a differance that you want, it will make a diff., you may just not like it.

Ive heard different things about using polyfill, some say that if you use it with a properly spec'ed box for full excursion of the woofer u dont need it and adding will make it over excursion at full power, others say that its dumb not to use polyfill i dunno what to do either.
Polyfill just 'tricks' the woofer into acting like it's in a bigger box than it really is. It isn't for all applications tho.
Try it, listen, if you like it, keep it in - if not, remove it.
It's not gonna catch fire.
