Default My 2002 Honda civic

Basically I can't decide weather to get a new car or work on mine... Its a stock auto 02 civic and I was thinking about swapping the engine to the k20a rsx type s engine but I'm not sure how much it would cost or would it be best to just get a new car... If i was to get a new car it would be the new Si but if fixing up my car would be better then i would do that... So if anyone can help me and give me info and advise that would be a big help... Thanks

for info on the k20a check out the FAQ.

as far as whether to keep the em2 (or ES1/ES2) whichever it is. i personally like the look of the 02 coupe better then the 06+ coupe so i'd go k swap. but ultimately its up to you.

If you buy the new SI you are driving a comfortable factory produced car with a k20 powerplant that comes with warranty.

If you swap a K20 into your 2003 civic you will be driving a car that will feel more like a race car than a comfortable ride.

It will be fast. It will beat the new SI. It doesn't come with warranty.

The question you have to ask yourself is: Are you the sort of car owner that is very nit picky with their car and gets worried with every little sound they hear while driving that needs warranty from the dealership or can you live with the rough race ride and not worry too much?

Do more research, then ask yourself the question.

that very true but like a noise won't bother me and i want a smooth clean fast ride... the situation thats on my mind is that which will last long and will most more... like if it isn't as expensive to swap in the k20 i'll do it.... Do you know how much it would cost to swap the engine??

dude i just realized youre from LA too....

well a k20a2 (type s) will run you around $4k around here...check out hmotorsonline.com

all the other **** that you need to get from an rsx or civic si you can either look for at a junk yard or buy straight from a dealer...plus the labor for the install....

youre lookin at around.....6-7K....

even worst case scenario, and lets say you got jipped and pay like 8-10k... its still less than a si...

its a no brainer bro...

hit me up on AIM at clutchshiftgun, we're both from the LA area and im still shoppin for parts, if we look together we MIGHT get a better price...

or just get an rsx-s. i've always wondered why guys don't just sell the em2/es1 and get an rsx-s which already was the k in it. that's what i would like to do as soon as i get enough money.

well cuz people would expect an rsx-s to be fast...

nobody expects an em2 to smoke them...

besides, the em2 is lighter...

and finally, its the act of swappin motors...

buyin an rsx-s is borin

I def agree with that. when u pull up next to an EM2 no thinks it is fast. plus to save up for an RSX type S could take awhile.

i'm just saying, i can find an rsx-s for about $15k, and my ride blue books for $10k. Since i've never swapped an engine before, just trading mine in for an rsx would be much cheaper. since it seems the average for a k swap here is about $7k, i can spend the extra $2k on a few mods and probably be faster than a k swapped em2. i agree that it would not be as much of a sleeper, but it all depends on what you're going for. don't get me wrong, i love my civic, but if i had had more funds i would have gone a different route.
