Default Is this tranny the same?

Is an automatic transmission exactly the same out of a '91 accord as the one in a '94 accord? I know the '91 will fit directly on my '94 but is there any difference?

They're not the exact same but they're swappable.

I believe it's just the gear ratios.

I would imagine theres a bit of different material in it as well but overall they're similar.

if you are still using a sohc engine you shouldnt fall out of vtec...since it actuates between 2300 and 3200 rpm.

Yeah if you stay with the F series and don't go to the H you shouldn't drop out of vtec.

If you use a F tranny on an H motor it'll drop out because they're longer gears.

the only one thing i can think you will have to do it on the 90-93 the tranny has colling lines in the front and back where as the f22b(94) only has cooling lines on the front so you may beed to loop off the back so the cooling system on it works

chipping does not fix or change longer gears. it is a physical limitation not a tuning one.

OH they told me chip & tuning it would be better than changing trans because they are longer thats better and with the ecu tune it can shift whenever i want it to so it doesnt fall out of vtec.......

Gears are gears.

Can't do much to change them.

Once you get up in RPM's and hit VTEC with the H series, and it shifts (with the F tranny) you'll drop too low to stay in VTEC.

They *may* mean set a static point for VTEC to hit and just set it incredibly low. But I don't think that's a good idea.

yeah it is definitely the hack way of trying to get around the stock transmission. i would just spring for a jdm h22 auto with tcu and call it a day.

i agree. as far as modifying the tranny or trying to adjust shift points i'd leave that well enough alone. the honda automatics are well designed. i'd try and find a jdm h22/w TCU that will be the best combo for your car.
