Good Idea or bad???? B.A.R.D My car???? you know what i mean... Please help
Im knew here and wanted to know if its worth having a Motor BARD or just get it smoged.... you know what i mean???? help please ???? also how much would i spend to get it BARD??? worth it or not?
getting your car BAR'D is a good idea for people who like to DD their swaps. its a good idea because if a cop pops open your hood then everything checks out.. im not sure what they do when they see a swapped motor with no bar sticker.. it costs a good amount to bar your car sometimes.. idk its up to you really

they usually write you a ticket to go see the ref, or in worst case scenerio, inpound the car under the pretense of having stolen parts, and if it can't be proven that the parts are not stolen, the car can possibly be crushed....

It all depends. Did u do the swap? Did you follow any of the guidelines to making it legal (year, ecu generation, etc.)?
IMO if your do for smog right now or in 3 months i would just pay and have it done.
Then, if you plan on staying in the game and keeping the car I would BAR it.
If your someone that doesn't mind making payments then I wouldn't cuz we all know that you'll get the bug and you'll go get another car.
Gotta love SI people

well Im planning to keep my Ride. I love my EJ Coupe , I just dont want to spend a whole lot of $$$$$$ getting it BARD, specialy if it's close to $$"GEE" Hell No!! my tags are due in a Month and counting.......... ILL SEE WHAT I CAN DO! ANYONE WITH ANY SUGGESTIONS ABOUT THIS TOPIC OF INFO THEY MIGHT WANT TO SHARE PLEASE!!!
I am in the process of getting my car BARed. I would saw yes if like others have said everything is put on for that year. the motor has to be that year or newer. you must have all emission related parts on your car and everything has to be hooked up correctly. If you have all this then get a pretest down. If you pass that then go for it. I've spent over a $1000 just trying to pass the emissions part. they don't give you any breaks. Good luck

I hear bar is useless these days because they still write the tickets. Mostly because they believe we fix them up after bar'ing them... which 99% of the time its true..

lol need i say more..
The only way to bypass this is becoming smog exempt, by using propane instead of the normal ****, and convert back. I never fully understood how this was done though..

Im in the process of doing this on my other EJ1... just a simple B18b swap. Getting that BAR sticker for me is worth it. The motor is just for a simple DD with a little extra "umph" over the D16z6 that I had in it.
If you know what you are doing and you follow the rules it's worth it. I just don't see paying 100-200 everytime you need to smog or taking the chance with a 300 dollar ticket for the Ref.
