Default 6.92 @ 232mph...in 1969. Front engine dragster restoration.

I am doing some work to bring this dragster back to it's original form in '69. It was called 'the Spirit' and got a good share of publicity in its day. In the 80s it had lots of changes made to the chassis, including moving the motor forward to add an automatic transmission. The roll hoop was also altered from it's original 3pt design (old one seen on floor). I made a replica roll hoop out of 1.5" 3140 and fabed up a 6061 brake lever, linkage and mount for the master cylinder. I welded the new front motor mount tabs and made spacers for the motor plate on the mill as well. The customer also had me cut off about a dozen random tabs and loops that had been added over the years. It should be quite a sight when it's done but as of now he said it won't ever be run again...oh well.

Keep bringing pictures, because that's some stellar work.

Also, if you wouldn't mind...

Could you post an album of photos for the project car in the back?

Killer. I plan on building a front engine dragster here soon at our shop, I've always liked them and wanted one. Gotta make sure to get the googles and gas mask too.

Very cool. I guess I'm showing my age when I thought there was more of a seat for the driver in those things

Ya, they are messy as hell over there. This is how F1dyno and my shop was. If it's not clean you waste so much time. Plus it's an eyesore for everyone. f that
