My oil pump died on me also. I think it was caused by not running a harmonic balancer, according to what i have seen in different threads.

yeah harmonics will plague the oil pump and bottom end if severe enough.

I've seen 2 oil pumps gears crack. One motor had a UR pulley, the other was ctr N1 solid pulley. Both turbo 300+ whp.

no damper will do it. a stock damper usually does ok with a single disc clutch. with a twin you need a better damper like ati

I also think real light flywheels have something to do with it also. i was running an 8 pound flywheel.

flywheels are balanced though right? So how can it be that?

Lightweight flywheel and a grabby clutch. Sends lots of vibrations through the motor driving normally. The lighter flywheel has less momentum which is why you have to rev the car higher to take off. Then when the clutch engages and grabs it causes a greater torsional twist on your crank. There is a thread that can explain everything better than i can around here i'll see if i can find it.
