Axle replacement question
Well, two questions.
1: Do I have to drain and replace the transmission fluid when I change the passenger side axle?
2. Whats the best way to replace a balljoint? Dead blow hammer or should I buy a press?
edit; Might as well give it a mention that its a 94LS

as soon as you pull the axle stick a clean rag in the hole, it'll save most of your tranny oil. just double check your level when you finish.
are you trying to remove the ball joint so you can take the axle out? or you just replacing it cause its damaged?

You might be able to avoid losing transmission fluid if you jack up the front passenger corner.
To change the ball joint, rent a ball joint press from your local auto parts store. It's basically a big C-clamp with different size cups to fit different ball joint sizes.
