Default need some transmission advice for my B16 and LS tranny

hey guys so heres the deal. right now my car sits with a stock LS b18b1 with LS hydro tranny. I am about to go turbo in a few months probably shooting for 250-275 whp.

I just picked up a JDM B16 tranny with LSD because the price was too damn good to pass up. This car is my DD so i really don;t want to use the b16 tranny becuase i do travel and don;t want to be crusing around at 4 g on the highway. I like the gearing on the LS but feel it could be a little quicker geared. So i decided to do a little swap between the two. Im looking for some advice on what i should do. i was thinking of taking the LSD out of the B16 and putting it in the LS tranny. Or since its got LSD would i get enough traction to maybe use the b16 tranny and swap the ls 5th gear in there?. either way i kinda of want to do a swap that would make both transmissions useful so i could sell the other one and make some money back. Either way i just want to be using the LSD. Someone suggested to me to swap the b16 Final drive and LSD into the LS, then put the LS Final drive into the b16 and it would make it almost like a gsr transmission so it would be useful to someone else if i were to sell. thanks for any input if anyone has some ideas on what would work and what i can do because im sick of seeing this thing sit on the garage floor i want it in my car!!!

Use the B16 tranny and put in the LS 5th gear.

X2, I'm looking to do the same thing with a GSR 1-4 & FD in an LS tranny in the near future. It will give you the short gears and LSD for ripping around, and the tall LS 5th for cruising and highway use.

do you think the b16 1-4 though is going to be too quick for a turbo set up?

Yes it should be.

Unless you plan on winding out 5th gear. Which I highly doubt.

the best trany for a trubo setup is a gsr, so but if i had to pic between a b16 or a ls tranny for a trubo setup I would go with a ls tranny. good luck

but you don't think a b16 with a LS final drive or vice versa will be close to a gsr transmission?

And what makes you think the LS tranny is better for turbo??

Please don't say because it has longer gears.

i started off with a sohc turbo, with a dx tranny, pretty long gears. then went turbo b-series with a b16 trans, i would pick the b16 trans hands down. now i have a wrx, it has pretty long gears, wish they were shorter...

Think I'm gonna do this when I rebuild my tranny...

LS1&2
b16 3,4
LS 5th

and sticking with the 4.4 FD
