valve spring help needed
I have a h22 head I am reassembling after having the head dipped tomarrow. I got the motor used with the valvetrain unassembled and in boxes. So my question as of now is what is the diff in the valve spings so i can sort out the springs to assemble the head correctly. I know new ones are marked with paint but these are used so not so easy. Thanks for any help
So i sorted everything out and was able to separate them by their sizes including the inner and outter springs. question now is which are exhaust side and which are intake side. i got them sorted and found part numbers but no dimensions so part numbers and diagrams arent helping. to pretty much break down where im at right now I have a group of 8 shorter fatter springs and 8 thinner taller springs...
i forgot the colors. but the wider ones are for the intake side. and the other one goes on the exhaust side.
The part that is more coiled goes in towards the valves
^^ Maybe someone can confirm on that?
Also when putting the valves in. Make sure they go in their ORIGINAL spot. by original i mean where they were before they were taken off. Cause each valve makes its own seal on the valve guide. so you might lose compression if they're not in their original spot.

valves will be impossible to put in same spot considering i got the head disassembled. however i am going to be lapping the valves so the seals should be fine
Well, one way to see if the valves are in their original spot is by putting the valve in. Pour some sort of liquid in it and if it leaks, then it's not in the right spot!
