Default Cold Air intakes, 2.5" or 3" for best power?

I'm planning to get a cold air off ebay/local shop, and was wondering if there was any real significant difference between the 3" tube'd CAI or the more common and cheaper 2.5" CAI?

I keep hearing the the I/H/E upgrades aren't worth much if any on these cars, but wondered if I should hold out for the 3" tube CAI? Larger diameter = more flow, but slower velocity.... or is it irrelevant at this point?

This is NOT going on a 10K RPM, all-motor race car, just a basic daily driver.

lol

It's a DD your power increase will be minimal regardless of size.

Just get a 2.5"

I was thinkking of hitting up Kragen/Autozone/Pep-Boys ad buying some engine paint...scuff it and paint it a shade similar to the car, or flat aluminum....

Since this is your DD, get a air bypass valve as well. Well worth saving your engine if you are ever stuck out in the weather.

I live in So- Cal, rain is not a big deal. Besides, i ordered the 2-piece cold air, that way, if the rain ever does get heavy, I'll run a short ram instead of the full cold air.

I've been driving four years in the Northeast with no bypass valve. Just stay away from the deep ones. Even my mom had no troubles.

You probably won't notice any power differences, but F22s sound very cool with CAIs
